Miles (my husband and Simon's cousin-in-law I suppose) was telling me of a time he met Simon in a pub in Auckland for "a quick pint" one evening. Laughter was had, tales of tours past were told, and by the end of the night Simon was at the centre of a large group of people from all walks of life who had been drawn in by his charm, wit and ability to tell a good yarn. Simon had the unique gift of making anyone feel at home in his company. Our two young girls at the time were constantly in giggles around him, clambering all over him.
