First Memories of Simon

Created by Patrick & Pauline 3 years ago

My first memories of Simon are of a young boy at St. Albert the Great school in Hemel Hempstead. Our children were at the same school and at the end of the day we would all walk together down Tile Kiln Lane. This charming curly headed boy walked with us chatting away until we reached the main road, where his mum Linda would be waiting to meet him sometimes wheeling her bike with little brother James in a seat on the back.             " There's my mum" Simon would say as he waved a cheery "Goodbye" and off he skipped to meet her. We became great friends with Denis and Linda and often talked about Simon and his life's progress. It was with great sadness we heard about his many medical complications. How bravely he endured such long and gruelling treatment. Simon and his whole family have been in our prayers constantly. Here is a poem entitled God's Garden which we think is so appropriate to Simon's passing. May he enjoy the peace of Heaven free at last of all pain.

GOD'S GARDEN.

God looked around His garden and He found an empty space.

He the looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face.

He put His arm's around you and lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful: He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain;

He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb,

So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine".

It broke our heats to lose you but you did not go alone

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
