Personal Reflections - by Simon's niece - Robyn

Created by Robyn 3 years ago
My earliest memories of Simon are of days spent at Wenscot when I was very small. Simon kept Joe and I endlessly entertained, in fits of giggles over his straight-faced insistence, over a plate of beans on toast, that he was three years old. I have always been enchanted by Simon's uniquely absurd sense of humour.

It was a joy to get to know Simon better as an adult - beyond the fun and generous Uncle with an amazing array of games, films and records - and an honour to be a bridesmaid for him and Sarah. As his many tributes echo, he seemed to have a way of living the moment that is rare to find, always with an easy-going demeanour, a steady smile, and a quick-witted remark to brighten the room with laughter. Simon taught me so much about music, and enjoying life in the present. The poem Grandma chose to read, the Dash, was so beautifully fitting.

I will miss you, Uncle Simon.
